DESCRIPTION:
Become a Technical Writer for our Data Protection Group! VERITAS Software,
the largest independent storage management software company in the world
today, is looking for a Sr. Technical Writer based in San Luis Obispo. As a
Technical Writer for our Data Protection Group, you will work closely with
our project team consisting of software developers, test/QA, technical
support, project management, and foreign language translators as an integral
part of product development. You will also interface with other technical
writers to develop new ideas and standards and refine old ones. You will
write SDK and other software documentation; create integrated paper-based
and online information for end users; install and use products under
development; write documentation according to project schedules; provide
feedback to Engineering and Management regarding product design and
usability; and keep current with late breaking technology and industry news.

SKILLS
3-5 years experience as a technical writer in the computer industry,
experience documenting SDKs and writing user guides-help, knowledge of Java
or C++; both Windows and UNIX knowledge desired, but at least one is
required. Use of a desktop publishing tool (FrameMaker preferred), ability
to follow a style guide, use templates, knowledge of modular documentation
and WebWorks Publisher. Must be able to proactively collaborate with
editors, developers, and product managers. Degree or certification in
technical writing with strong background in computer science, degree in
computer science with strong background in technical writing, or proven
equivalent experience.
