HP OpenView Amsterdam is part of the world-wide Hewlett-Packard OpenView
business unit. HP OpenView is a family of systems and service management
software solutions used in a wide variety of organizations. HP OpenView
Amsterdam is responsible for the development, marketing and support of
Service Desk, a product complementing IT service management solutions with
support for processes like help desk, problem management, change management
and service level management.
Our office is located in Amsterdam on the waterfront, with a beautiful view
over the Y. The office is easily accessible by public transport or car. The
interior reflects the atmosphere of our organization: open, informal and
teamwork-focused. The technical writers' team has the challenging task of
completing our software products with user documentation, assisting the
users in optimizing their work with our products. You can be part of this
enthusiastic team that takes the initiative to continuously improve the
quality and effectiveness of their work: documentation.
As a technical writer in our team, you will have a big influence on the
documentation we develop. As a team we work together in identifying
documentation requirements. You will explore new development tools and
methods. You will contribute to our initiative to collect user data at the
customers site, where we can see for ourselves how our users work and how
we can best meet their information needs. You will work closely with our
software designers and developers to gain a clear insight into the
functional and technical aspects of our software products. You will be
welcomed by a supportive team in a stimulating organization that encourages
professional growth and new ideas.
The documentation you will develop consists of user manuals and technical
guides, as well as online help systems. Sometimes you will write or update
your "own" manual from start to finish, and sometimes you and other writers
will collaborate to develop or update a document together, taking advantage
of individual skills and ambitions.
Of course, to be successful in this job, you need to have certain skills to
build on. What we have found to be important in this job, is: training or
experience in technical communication, excellent English writing skills
(preferably English as your mother tongue). Furthermore, it is important
that you are capable of grasping complex processes and rendering these into
simple concepts and instructions. A flexible attitude is a must in this
evolving business. This flexibility works both ways: we determine our
working hours within reasonable limits and we can occasionally work from
home when that s more convenient.
Hewlett-Packard offers an attractive salary and comprehensive benefits.
*You must have EU or Netherlands work permit*
