WEB MANAGER

Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut is currently accepting
applications for a Web Manager. The purpose of this position is to lead the
efforts of the Communications Office to adapt Wesleyan University's
communications program to the opportunities implicit in new media and to
develop designs and publishing formats that take best advantage of these
opportunities. The Web Manager devises communication strategies for Web
publication that respond effectively to University needs;designs Web sites
and pages that effectively communicate programmatic information in a manner
consistent with Wesleyan's overall strategy, and adapts print publications
for the World Wide Web, particularly those representing complex design
and/or technical challenges. He or she advises the director concerning
hardware and software purchases and training required to enable staff to
publish in diverse media.  Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's
degree, an ongoing commitment to getting the training required to adapt
editorial and design skills to new media, familiarity with online
publishing languages, such as html, javascript, and cgi scripting,
interpersonal skills to negotiate the scope of work, organizational skills
to manage projects that vary widely, skilled in using software packages
that facilitiate design, layout, image preparation, and editing for Web
publication, and aptitude for exploring new media and the drive to create
and adapt communication strategies for them.  Interested candidates should
