Senior UNIX Systems Administrator, Long Island, NY

Responsibilities include the following:

Plans and evaluates existing network systems and makes recommendations to
maintain and/or expand service levels
Provides highly skilled technical assistance in network planning,
engineering and architecture
Develops technical standards and interface applications
Identifies and evaluates new products
Provides resolution for network and infrastructure problems
Interfaces with vendors to identify and purchase hardware and software
Daily monitoring and management of Network Management Software
Responsible for strategic planning to ensure network capacity meets current
and future requirements
Conducts analysis and preparation of financial, budget and recovery reports
Manages hardware upgrades and migrations

Requirements

Minimum 8 years of experience in telecom networks involving
transmission/traffic engineering and operations
Knowledge of SNMP management tools
Knowledge of Internet and wireless protocols
Excellent written communication skills
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Understanding of e-commerce and the Internet
Knowledge of various Internet browsers, operating systems and the Internet
Experience with testing in a Unix (Sun) environment is required
CISCO experience a plus
Works well under pressure and meets deadlines
