CONTRACT: Senior Java Developer - New York, NY

My client is looking for a Senior Java Developer with the following
skill sets:

Hard skills:

1. Practical knowledge of the Java Collections framework.
2. Practical knowledge of JDBC.
3. High comfort level with SQL scripting.
4. High comfort level with servlet and/or JSP scripting.
5. Practical knowledge of HTML, style sheets.
6. Experience with the following applications:  Apache Tomcat 4.0, MS
SQL Server 2000, MS-Visual Source Safe.
7. Experience with the following development tools: GNU Emacs, Allaire
Homesite, Jakarta Ant, Visual Studio.
8. Basic understanding of DHTML.
9. Basic understanding of XML interpretation and manipulation using Java
(experience with JDOM a plus).
10.Basic understanding of Java I/O (specifically streamed I/O to files,
sockets, etc).
11.Basic understanding of Java Sockets programming.

Soft skills:

1. High comfort level with developing server-side business logic
components.
2. Design / analysis experience.
3. Supervisory experience.
4. Experience building on previous customizations.

Skills that would be helpful, but not necessary:

1.  Enterprise Java Beans.
2.  ASP/COM.
3.  Visual Basic 6.

This position will be freelance ONSITE in NYC for the next few months
and may turn into full time work.
