VP of Technology, Portals Division
Salary range - $175,000 - $195,000 + bonus + stock options + benefits
Location: NYC

General Background - We are in need of a strong technologist who is now 
interested in moving to an executive position.  The individual must be 
willing to work very long hours, travel and keep pace with the CTO of the 
organization.  This is a very technical and business focused position that 
blends all of the key skills outlined below.  The position is challenging 
and requires the ability to adjust to change rapidly.   This position could 
eventually lead to promotion as CTO of the organization.  The individual 
must have a background in with web development for a large-scale site. My 
client is one of the top trafficked sites in the world and requires 
individuals who are experienced with large-scale systems and their unique 
complexities.  We are not looking to train someone in these areas.

Technical Component - Programming - Demonstrated 5-6 years of actual 
software development experience as a Sr. Programmer and Analyst.  The 
individual must be able to pass a rigorous programming interview that will 
check the individual's abilities to present coding solutions to several 
technical problems. The individual should have strong hands-on experience 
with Microsoft development tools such as COM/COM+, MSMQ, MTS, C++, VB, ASP 
as well as JavaScript, Java and demonstrated SQL. Database - The individual 
must understand relational technologies specifically SQL Server.  The 
individual will be required to discuss his background in SQL Server and 
demonstrate an understanding of relational topics and commands.  They will 
also be required to present plans and solutions on recovery of databases, 
relational design and optimization strategies.

Operations - The individual will be required to review operational 
strategies for mission critical systems.  An understanding of deployment 
strategies, production policies and procedures, hardware and software 
deployment, general security policies and emergency response procedures.

Management Component Team - The individual should have demonstrated 
experience in the management of technical organizations that are 50-100 
people in size. They should have a strong leadership presence and 
demonstrate an ability to lead using a very strong hands-on approach.

Customer - The ability to interact with internal and external customers 
will be tested.  The individual should be comfortable working with middle 
and senior management for XX and our customers, such as AOL, MSN, Cigna and 
others.

Process - The individual should understand how to develop processes and 
procedures that streamline our ability to work effectively as an 
organization and with our customers.

Project - The individual must have hands-on project management experience, 
including - project cost estimates, risk analysis and response, resourcing 
skill, quality mindset process and customer expectation management, as well 
as functional and technical specification development.

Financial Component Budgeting - The individual should have clear 
demonstrated experience in managing software/hardware/personnel budgets of 
$7MM - $10MM.  The individual must be able to demonstrate how he managed 
the budget, how he created the budget and how he met the budget requirements.

Technology Vendor Negotiations - The individual should have demonstrated 
experience in working with vendors, negotiating software license agreements 
and developing cost saving programs with vendors. Bonus Knowledge

Any individual that meets the above and also demonstrates the following 
will be given extra consideration:
 >> M&A experience
 >> Rapid Application Development experience.
 >> Buid/Buy/Acquire Analysis background.
 >> Health care background.

Salary range - $175,000 - $195,000 + bonus + stock options + benefits
