Hi all,

What different options are there for languages/scripting in HTML pages

I have used ColdFusion and
I have used a little PHP

I use Perl but have not embedded it in HTML pages is this possible and if so
on what platforms and what server software does one need

I am aware of ASP but have not used it. I am under the impression that this
model supports a number of different scripting languages. Can anyone tell me
how this works (at a high level) and how one uses different scripting
languages with it.

Any other comments about Pro's and cons of any options you are aware of
would also be useful.

I have written websites using Perl and done the whole thing with templates
and variable substitution myself, needless to say I don't really want to do
that again, but I like perl as it is very versatile. So if I could use it
like I use ColdFusion (nested in the HTML page itself that would be great).
I like CouldFusion as it is quite simple and clear (to a point) but my
background is OO Programming and Design and CF does not cater to what I am
used to. I am of course aware that one call other code from CF but if the
scripting language was more powerful there may be less need to do so.

Thanks in advance for any comments and suggestions

Derek
