Netscape 7 changing a dropdown menu

I have a popup window (an address book) that updates form fields in the 
parent window.

I'm using for the dropdown menu:
opener.document.form1.RecStateDB.options[opener.document.form1.RecStateDB.selectedIndex].text 
= "someValue";

This works in IE6 and NN 4, but not in Netscape 7 or Mozilla 1

Click on Address Book, and then Use This Address.

Any ideas?
