Hey, it's a raid 5 array, pull one of the drives and see what happens!  I
don't do it all the time, but that's part of my server turnup testing to see
if everything works like it should.

I am using the cheaper method of a Promise IDE raid card with mirroring.  So
when I was testing the hardware setup, I unplugged one of the drives to see
what happens.  This was under Red Hat Linux and there was a message logged
to syslog when I did that and the server kept on running.

Depending on your tolerance level, you may or may not want to do this, but
IMHO, this is the only way to really see if it works and should be done
before the server goes into production.
