Hi all. I am new to the list and after scoring the archives for hours, I
have turned up nothing to help.
I am a web designer who wants to host her own sites from her desktop
computer. I run Windows98, and really can't get copies of NT/Linux/Unix
systems. I keep seeing Apache and hearing that its the best, but after a
quick peruse of their site, I don't think I am technical enough to want to
try to install software that isn't fully supported.
I have been told that PWS is good, but can it serve publicly? Do I need a
DNS server to make it work? Will my ISP have to give me a static IP (I am on
DSL)?
Any help you can give would be great.
Jami
