Hello everyone,
Has anyone had any luck using MX records to create a second email machine?
I have a client who will be hosting with us, and has an onsite email
machine, lets call it
machine1.mydomain.com
He would like us to set up the zonefile so that the email (SMTP) on the
senders machine would first try to send it to "machine1", and if the
connection fails, it would be sent to another machine, lets call it
"machine2.mydomain.com"
I understand we can use
MX 10 machine1.mydomain.com
MX 1000 machine2.mydomain.com
To send the mail to machine2, should machine1 fail, but the question is, can
we get machine1 to automaticly send the mail to machine1 when the
connection/server is back up and running?
I was considering having machine2 have virtual mappings to try to resend the
mail back to machine1, but am wondering if this would send the server into a
loop?
Any ideas?
