OK, what painfully obvious thing am I missing...?
A page which has been deleted from the server is
still appearing via browser - for me and for others.
IIS 4.0, NT 4.0/SP5. Things I tried and checked:
- Cleared my browser's disk/memory cache.
- Neither I nor the web server are going thru a firewall.
- Using "Find" in NT Exploror on the web server
does not find the deleted page on any disks.
- From the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), I've stopped
and restarted the web site under the presumption that
this clears the IIS cache.
- I telnet'ed to port 80 of the server and was able to
manually "GET" the phantom page.
- I am indeed pointing to the right server. (Easily
determined when I stopped the web site with MMC!!)
- Pointing instead to a ficitious page gives me a "404" -
so I know there isn't a customized error page which
just LOOKS like the phantom page.
- The phantom page does not appear when browsing the web
site via MMC (ie, it's not listed in MMC's right-hand frame).
And yet the phantom page still comes up via browser, I'm stumped...
