Hi Group,

I'm a new trial member to hwg and have been looking for an answer for the
following problem:

I recently downloaded APACHE for windows binaries so that I could run a
personal server on my home machines. The install on my 1999 desktop IBM
went fine and works fine. The same is not true for my 1999 IBM Thinkpad.

I'm running Windows98 on both machines, the MSI installer is installed and
seems to be functional on both machines. When I attempt to run the server
on the laptop the console opens both windows and then immediately closes them.

Original investigation of the error logs showed that the host could not be
identified. Editing the http.cfg file and setting host to "localhost"
cured that problem.

The following error shows in the log:

[Wed Apr 25 11:20:01 2001] [crit] (10091)(FormatMessage failed with code
317): setup_inherited_listeners: WSASocket failed to open the inherited
socket.

I have the system loaded as:

D://IndigoPerl/Apache/

I have checked the Settings===>Contol Panel===>Networking===>Configuration
and TC/IP->network adapter is installed.

WHAT I HAVE DONE SO FAR:

	Uninstall and reinstalled >6 times
	Edited the PORT in http.cnf from 80 to 8000
	As noted above edited the host in http.cnf to "localhost"

Can someone tell me what I need to do to fix this problem so I can run a
devlopement local server on the laptop?

Jim
