I've found that if you put the "ToTheEnd" statement anywhere other
than at the left end of the line, the perl doesn't like it. In 
other words,
if I forget about indenting and go:
ToTheEnd
instead of
         ToTheEnd

it always works. If I indent, it blows up. Maybe that's just the server
I'm working on.
