Hi people,
I'm new to Apache, and I hope this is the right place to post this. [If it
isn't,
please suggest a suitable mailing list, thanx]
I installed Apache 1.3.12 for Win95. (I downloaded the binary from apache.org.)

The http://localhost doesn't work, and neither does http://127.0.0.1/
I've enabled DNS in Networking, and I've set "ServerName localhost" in
the httpd.conf file.
My error.log file says "[crit] make_sock: failed to get a socket for port 80"
My Apache shutdown says "[emerg] (123) The filename, directory name, or
volume label syntax is incorrect: OpenEvent on ap-231635_shutdown event".
My Apache startup says "[warn] pid file ... overwritten -- Unclean shutdown of
previous Apache run? Apache/1.3.12 (Win32) running..."
and then the MS-DOS box closes immediately (it doesn't stay open or
minimized)

Any idea? I'm worn out trying possiblities. I feel it's something simple. Maybe
something to do with my DNS settings.
Thanks for any help.
- Erwin
