The site had just been launched, with a brand new design, so nobody even
had the chance to link to any images. I have been doing some careful log
file analysis and found nothing unusual there either.

Actually that is a very good idea, we are could look into that. I guess the
one drawback with that is that the hosting service will not be happy to
find that going on. This is because they can only profit by oversubscribing
their bandwidth based on the fact that most accounts only use a fraction of
their allotted bandwidth. If more account holders start using the maximum
bandwidth, they will end up having to increase their pricing or go out of
business.

Is there any software that can tell me very quickly from a raw log file
what the bandwidth usage is? I have access to raw log files, but do not
have permissions to install software on this server, downloading and
analyzing the Apache/Solaris log files locally in a Windows environment. I
am curious if there are any utilities that can extract just the bandwidth
usage from the log files quickly and easily. The log files are about 5 Mb
when they are gzipped.
