Meta tags and mSQL

HI

	The opinion storm seems to be over so I guess its safe to bring up a new
subject!  I'm making a web based database on teachers (only Icelandic) where
one will be able to add a name and information through the net. I want
however to monitor what goes on and therefor I'm planing on logging all new
entry's. Is there a way, by META tags or something else to get
information's, IP number or something on the person posting? And is there a
better way of logging than to put a copy of the information's in a new
"logged" table in the database? I'm using mSQL or mySQL.
