Waaaaait a minute . . . . .

How in the heck do you learn HTML without writing it?!?!?!?!

I am _closely_ involved in primary education (I'm not a teacher, I'm the
computer geek that keeps them all working) and in the school's I "frequent"
I have met *several* in 5th grade or less, that can, and DO, write HTML in
note pad (or simple text). Granted, these folks aren't turning out
JavaScript and frames (YET!) but by-gosh they have -learned- to write
**real** HTML -that ******validates*******.

Don't get me wrong. . .

There are indeed a _bunch_ of software programs out there that will
generate "web pages", and those web pages indeed work well on SOME
browsers, SOME TIME. And if that is good enough for you, by gosh as long as
it's not my site they are posted on, it's good enough for me.

But on the other hand . . .

If *real* access is an issue. If pride in a job _correctly_ done is an
issue. Then at this time YOU HAVE NO CHOICE but to LEARN HTML, sorry but
it's a fact of life like death and taxes. Oh, BTW, I'm really not trying to
shout at you, I just don't want you to miss that part :-) sorry if I hurt
your ears.

Now . . . .

Doesn't it just make more sense to learn it right the first time, than to
learn a bunch of junk you have to eventually UN-learn in order to
successfully create the genuine article (valid HTML)?

Even Homesite which as _proven_ to be one of the best of the best canned
editors, writes code that must be tweaked before it will create a clean
page that validates (in a lot of cases). If you have ever seen homesite you
know that it's NOT WYSIWYG, If you don't know HTML, how in the heck are you
supposed to know how to tweak it's code - answer: you can't. Woops!

Summary . . .

Take the time and trouble to learn HTML. There is _no_ substitute (unless
you want to hire someone like me to write for you!), and nothing, at any
price, that works better than a plain old text editor (OS flavor of your
choice).

There you have it, the world of HTML according to a guy so "fuzzy", it's
his name. Take it for what it's worth to you - then send him the contact
information for the clients who's sites you have produced with the canned
editors so he can make a fortune fixing your stuff!

Happy Fourth Of July everyone - be safe.
SeaYa,
Fuzzy
P.S. Dang, I guess that fellow was right about setting of an "opinion
firestorm" :-)
