I heard a suggestion a long time ago, tried it, and it's working perfectly:
Install the 16-bit version of IE3. I HAVE to use IE4 for one project I'm
doing at work, and I HAVE to use IE3 for another. (Sigh.) I decided to
try this, as my only alternative was to work on a 486-25 with 8Mb of RAM...
Ooooohhh... I don't know if it matters which you install first, but I
already had IE4, then installed IE3.

Someone mentioned recently that this was dangerous because 16-bit
applications aren't meant to run on 32-bit systems. Someone came back
pointing out that a lot of popular programs are actially 16-bit programs
and run fine on 32-bit OSs. (I have NT.) I can say I did this weeks ago
and have had no problems whatsoever. And I didn't have to work on that
486-25! <g>
