Yes, that's what I do too but I use CSE 3310's Validator from within
HomeSite 4.0 now. They're up to version 3.03 now and that Validator is a
lot more thorough and configurable that the validator Allaire now includes
with HomeSite 4.0.

I was involved in beta testing from beta 1 until the end. I love all the
new functionality that was added in HomeSite 4.0 and couldn't go back to
3.01 myself. There are indeed a few irritating bugs left in HS 4.0 and I
find that this is becoming standard practice for software makers to rush
the release of software before they are truly ready. The free 4.01 upgrade
will be out as soon as December and it will fix most of the remaining bugs
from what I read in Allaire's user forum.

One thing that may in part explain (IMHO) the rise of buggy software
release is the increase in different hardware devices that software makers
have to support and deal with. A lot of problems with high en applications
these days seem to be related with troubles dealing with video cards
drivers and things of the sort. Even high end software like QuarkXpress
4.04 (which is quite a lot more expensive than HomeSite) seem to be plagued
with various problems that affect only a part of their users and on the
forums you only hear about the problems so they may look a lot worse than
they really are. A lot of users reported problems with HomeSite 3.0 that I
never had yet I have a few with 4.0 that almost no one else has. I would
never dream of developing my HTML with anything else though.

The install file is closer to 7 MB this time if that makes a difference to
you. It took less than an hour on my 28.8. It still is bigger than the
1.5 MB that HS 2.5 was though ;-)
