i agree with that 100% :)
use relative not fixed width
one important thing to consider is that in the future
more and more people will access the web via a tv
screen - which is restricted to 580 pixels across and
there's no horizontal scrolling.
you might have noticed that a number of news sites
with heavy traffic (e.g. http://news.bbc.uk.co) don't
fill the whole screen horizontally. the table on the
bbc news site is actually set to 600.
