CSS Hierarchy when it comes to tables

I am trying to write a css class that can be used on a table just by
setting the class="className" in the <table> tag. I tried to do that by
calling all the classes TABLE.TD.ClassName, TABLE.TR.ClassName. It works,
but the header cells and regular TD's override each other. Could I be
putting them in the wrong order in my .css file, or what is the issue
here?
