Browser Emulators

Any up-to-date browser emulators that really do the job?  If not, what 
standard procedures have people developed to check renderings across 
browser types and versions?  I've been out of the design/development arena 
for a while and now face a project that will require multiple sites 
targeted to the mass market - including AOLers.  Like many, I have no 
intention of attempting to satisfy any viewer with pre-4.0 browsers. 
Something for the version 4 to 6 browser range (and comparable, if not NN 
or IE) would seem correct for my current needs.  All feedback is appreciated.
