I just checked with @home tech support because I was getting multiples of
all of my mail, not just hwg mail and it may have something to do with Code
Red and Norton Anti-virus. I can't give you much more info, but if you have
NAV it might be the culprit.

Subject: Strange email behaviour - anyone else having this happen?

Sorry for this being off topic, but I am sure someone here will know what's
causing this ..

I'm getting a spam message coming in. No problem, I can handle that,
except every time I check my mail there are 10 identical copies of it there.
Leave it for 10 minutes, there are 10 copies of this email there. Check
in 4 minutes, 10 copies. Check in an hour, 10 copies. For a long time I
thought this was a spammer with a virus of some kind, but the fact that
there's always 10 emails there, not hundreds or a few, leads me to think
that perhaps I've got a problem with Outlook.

On the other hand, if I had a virus or something in my MSOutlook, I'd have
thought this would be happening with dozens of messages, not just one.

So I checked my mail on the server using the online webmail - uses only a
browser and I look at th emessages on the server without downloading them.
Same thing.

I watched for a while, and checked again, not doing anything but hit "check
mail" and there was still 10 messages there. After 15 minutes, still 10
messages there.

So I deleted them, and got zero messages waiting. Then checked again after
a minute or so and lo! 10 messages again.

I'm starting to think that I can't have this problem caused by MSoutlook or
anything on my system, because I'm not using outlook for this - just a web
browser. Could it be that the mail server has a virus of somekind? In
which case I have to wonder why just this mailbox and not any other mailbox
on the same mail server?

I've updated my McAfee and scanned my system and it hasn't thrown up
anything of interest.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Can you give me some clues as
to where to look?

I've already followed up the obvious things like tracing the origin of the
message through the headers, but if the problem is my end that won't show
anything.

Cheers,
Mike Kear
