I am dealing with this issue now. The research that I have been able to get
to suggest several things:
1. Keep the keywords to a maximum of about 1025 characters (including commas
and spaces).
2. Keep your copy on the page keyword dense. In otherwords include as many
as you can in the beginning of your page.
3. Don't use your keywords more than six or seven times in your meta
heading. And separate them from each other.
4. Include as many keywords (or at least the most important ones) in your
title and description. And remember, your title should describe your
website NOT necessarily your business.
5. Use lower case.
6. Use key phrases as well as individual words.

The one thing I cannot get a handle on is how SE's handle plurals. If
anyone can illuminat that I would appreciate it.

Hope this helps. Any words of wisdom from anyone else will sure be
appreciated.

Subject: Keywords?

It was suggested, in one response to my previous question, that I drop the
number of keywords on http://xumbrus.com/order.htm to 20. While we'll be
hiring a company to do keywords and search engine placements, I'm curious
that many of the larger sites I'm familiar with that have HIGH rankings
(most #1) have MANY (some over 100) keywords.....OR NONE.

What's the consensus, if there is any, on number of keywords?

Linda
