Hello Everyone,

I am having a problem with form field sizes, particularly in Netscape. When
I specify a text field I have tried both size="30" and width="30", but
Netscape seems to display the boxes as much longer than the character limit,
even when I test it by typing wider characters like "m" into the field. I
have even tried putting the fields in table cells, but the field just
overrides the cell width The size is closer in Internet Explorer, but still
does not seem quite right. I use Dreamweaver, and on its layout screen, the
sizes look smaller, but when I preview the pages in a browser, I get a nasty
surprise. Does anyone know why this is happening, and what I can do about
it? I am about ready to tear all my hair out...

Also, in a somewhat related question, is there any way to stop Netscape from
making a select box as wide as the widest option? You can specify a style
width that works in IE, but Netscape ignores it.

I cannot seem to find answers to any of these questions on the web...just
guidelines for how to create forms, but nothing explaining why this might
happen.

Thanks in advance for any advice you might have.

Sincerely,
