Hi again, all you wonderful gurus!

I'm teaching myself Java the "Visual Quickstart" way but I've come across a
small problem - what do I use to write my applets with?

In other words, do I HAVE to use a compiler or can I use Notepad and
Dreamweaver? I visited the Sun Java pages and got a lot of definitions -
but no clarification.

I don't mind spending money if I have to ... I just need to know if I have
to!

TIA
