own server

hello folks,

i am interested in setting up my own server solely for my own internet
connection.  my current ISP which has a good connection i cannot complain
about,  happens to have some not-so-professional owners.  the other choices
left are two slow ISPs.

i have a promising website and i am afraid i will find myself without an
internet they way things are going on in my ISP.

so what are the pros and cons of putting up your own server, even if it only
for a worry-free internet connection.  how expensive it is?

btw, i live in the philippines where everything else is expensive :-)  but i
think it's no sin to ask, right?
