line spacing question

I notice on this news story that the last sentence in each paragraph is
spaced slightly more than the other sentences in the paragraph.  I know what
causes this in basic html but what causes it with the use of css?  There is
a <.span class> before each paragraph and a <./span> after but before a <.p>
