Wow, thanks so much to everyone that offered ideas and suggestions.  I will
try to touch on all the ideas that were brought up.

Someone mentioned the javascript toward the bottom of the page for Web Ring.
Thank you, I had forgotten about it.  But since the error indicates lines 1
and 2, I don't think this is it.

Regarding the doctype.  It is "technically" required on HTML documents
unless you are trying to code the page to be compliant.  I am gradually
starting to work these into my sites, this one will be the first one.  I
just wanted to get everything working before I start experiementing with
these things that are new to me.

Someone also recommended running it through the validator. That was going to
be my next stop.

Thank you again so much.  Now at least I know it isn't just my browser
causing a problem.  I have noticed a lot of runtime errors around the net
lately and was beginning to wonder if it was something wrong with the
program, corrupt or something.  I guess just a coincidence!

I will let you all know when I come up with the problem.
