Register both names, use the long one for the web address and the short one
on as the email server address. Check with your hosting company though
because they'll probably charge you full hosting fees for both domains. If
that's the case, I'd see if the client wouldn't just go with the short
version, the initials I presume, and then on the site itself, spell it out.
Or, see if they'll setup a virtual redirect from the long to the short in
order to avoid the dual hosting fees.

What would be the best/most effective way of accomplishing a clients
request to have their company name (long version) for their web address,
but using the initials in the e-mail address, i.e.:

www.LongCompanyName.com and Joe_Client(at)LCN.com

By registering both domain names could I have the host company set it up so
that the long name points to the short name which would be what is actually
set up on the host machine? Would the long name ALWAYS appear in the
address bar of the users browser or would it revert back to the short name?

Or would a better solution be to try and dissuade the client from going
that route and just choosing either the long OR the short version?

Thanks in advance for the input!
