I wonder if we all chasing our tails, wasting time in making sure that
coding works in every browser. If the browser designers can't work it out
amongst themselves I see no reason why we, the customers, should do the job
for them. It's got a bit like VHS and Betamax - but hasn't the time come to
agree, and stick to, common standards?

Those browsers that don't do that must die - no reason to keep them going. I
am not prepared to waste my time propping up lost causes.

All this rubbish about the way Netscape 'encourages me to keep my coding
tight' leaves me cold. That's the language of nerds and we've moved beyond
that. I'm a content provider - I want to present my content to as wide an
audience as possible. I want to drive the machine - how it works is nothing
to do with me.

I applaud companies like Adobe who have always believed that cross-platform
important. Their Reader is a great device. PageMaker has always been a bit
unstable but I realised where they were going.

Now with Go Live 5 linking with over 100 plug-ins they stand on the
threshold of success. Multi-platform made possible, without any ridiculously
complicated programming getting in the way. Seems like the right way
forward.

Now I want to know if anyone is using Go Live 5 - what's it do?

Go on, shout at me, but stop and think. Why are you wasting your time
multi-coding? Either reduce the complication of your pages or place a page
link to enable users to download a compatible browser. To carry on with this
ridiculous complication is to involve yourself in a power struggle that will
never help you do your job more easily.

Finally; in such a prestigious group as this list I am very surprised that
there is no-one from the browser companies prepared to explain their
ridiculous attitudes. Let's go punch the bastards on the nose!
