I'm not going to wade into the legalities here because I'm not even a "bush
lawyer", but I am interested in the "moral" (for want of a better word) aspect.

It seems to me that since these people are not just clients, but friends,
it is most unfair for them to be using you as a pawn in what looks like
bids to outsmart one another if that's how you perceive the situation. Much
and all as they may very well hate each other's guts right now, the are,
presumably, adults and they need to sit down and work out what they're
going to do about their business situation.

I see nothing wrong with you acting as referee, if you *want* too, but
"want" is operative word here. If they can't sit down and discuss it
without beating each other over the head, then I would tell them that
nothing will be done for either of them without the request being made in
writing and signed by both parties.

It sounds like the split is fairly recent, so I would imagine that there
are some open wounds right now and maybe they need to just leave things as
they are until they can discuss it sensibly and rationally.

Who the heck knows what's going to happen in their personal lives down the
track...maybe they'll never speak to one another again, maybe it will all
get very acrimonious and end up in court, maybe they'll get back together,
whichever way it goes, I wouldn't want either one of them to have anything
on me :)

Hell hath no fury and all that stuff applies to both men and women
..IMHO...*grin*
