Ezra,

Thanks for your reply.

I had a suggestion from Peggi and Ben Rodgers that it's a Unix thing...and
I think they may well be right. It's been a long time since I had anything
to with Unix, so I'm pretty fuzzy (with apologies to Fuzzy *grin*) in that
department.

The suggestion was that the server is reading the URL as a filename, rather
than a word. The "illegal character" is one of the reasons that the browser
gives for the Error 404 and the most logical that appears to me.

If I recall correctly, it only happens when the underscore occurs in the
URL, elsewhere other than in the filename. Perhaps the reason that others
can see it and I can't is...and this is a *wild* stab in the dark....it has
something to do with the server that they're connecting from, liking the
server that they're connecting too, better. ...if that makes sense ?

I don't have a URL right now, so I can't give you an example. I'll post the
next one I come across.

So, my question, I *think* has been answered. It's not really a biggie for
me...except that if I can't access a site, it's not good for the owner and
perhaps should be looked at, if it's not just me. Most of them have been
pages put up by graphics "hobbyists"...and I am *NOT* knocking the
"hobbyists"...but sometimes, their coding leaves something to be desired
especially when they're first starting out.

Thanks again.

Kym
