How about ... do whatever it is you need to do on your computer to make 
sure all the files in the folders are "current" and that the old ones are 
not there. Possibly use Xenu (below)? Then use FTP program to compare the 
files in each folder. Compare your computer's folders to the website's 
folders, deleting anything on the site that isn't listed in your computer's 
files.

I use Xenu, a link checking program. It also checks image links. It will 
make a report of the missing files, yes, but you will want to look at 
(print?) the actual link checking it does. Because it will also list each 
image. You can then check all the images being used, eliminate the rest.

Xenu is a free program, it's really good, and fast. It also creates a 
website menu for you, too. You can use it to check files on your hard 
drive, and/or, check the files at a website on line.
