php and open maillist

Hi all,

I hope this is the right forum for this question.

I am trying to set up an open maillist where subscribers can send email to 
the list. Just like this HWG list. I have found several maillists where the 
administrator can send messages out, however, I have not been able to find 
anything that allows the members to post to the list.

I have been playing around with PHP and am reading the PHP and MySQL book 
where they describe the design of a maillist. The authors also mention that 
it is possible to extend that maillist to do the open version however, they 
do not say how. So it seems possible to do it with PHP but I can't figure 
out how to get the email into the php program.

Any ideas/suggestions?
