Re: caption tag?

I've done the same thing, but found it easier to just add a line break 
immediately following the image tag, followed by the caption. Be sure to 
center the cell data if you want the caption to be centered.

Example:

<td align="center"><img src="images/pets.jpg" height="200" width="120" 
alt="My Dog and Cat"><br><font size="2">Arf! Hiss!</td>
