Progress Bar in JavaScript

Hi all,

I'm trying to create a progress bar using JavaScript that will play while 
I'm waiting for a Java applet to load.  I would like it to appear in a 
particular text box in a form that will provide the results of the applet 
once it's done it's work.  Can anyone help with this?  I'm pretty green at 
JavaScript and totally at a loss as to how to write it.
