If I take Fred Langa's column to be accurate 
(http://www.langa.com/newsletters/2000/mar-6-00.htm)  CuteFTP is 
spyware.  I followed the links from this story, even going to the CuteFTP 
site.   The information appears accurate.

Regardless of a software's public use, anything with subterfuge in it and 
it will never be used by me.
