Thanks to all of you who responded to my problem, and for the benefit of
anyone else who might get themselves into the same mess as I did...

Many of you pointed out that I could still use FTP to add/delete files and
folders on a Front Page Web. Sorry, I realise now I didn't make it clear that
I don't have FTP access to this hosting account - wherein lay the core of my
problem, or else I would have dealt with it this way.

Darrell King suggested I try importing the Web from the server to modify it
locally before republishing. I had tried that, but it was no good: there was
already a new index file on the server that didn't point to any of the old
files, so those weren't imported.

But Ginger Kaderabek hit the mail right on the head for me! Thanks Ginger,
your explanation of how to open the Web on the server (I hadn't realised you
could do that through "File/Open Web") and to view and delete files through
FP was spot on and saved me a lot of grief.

I've now got everything back under control again (until the next time I let
FP catch me out?)

Regards
Keith Bell
