I once accommodated this by creating a subdirectory called info 
expressly for these. So it was:

   http://www.domain.com/info/special

The index.htm in that folder was a directory table that showed all 
the info links. This file also served me as my record of what was 
what.

Today we use Apache redirects to cover this need but the info folder 
will work for you if the Apache method is not available.
