Pissing contest (was Re: Fw: Fw: Front Pages)

Let me see if I can sum this entire thread up in a few short words, leaving
out all extraneous verbiage:

Side 1: Splash pages are good!

Side 2: Splash pages are BAD!

Side 3: Whether splash pages are good or bad is relative and can only be
judged in context of the designers intentions, the customers wishes and the
end users reaction.

Now, being "The Wise One!", I have to say that any position other than that
taken by side 3 is simply a pissing contest.

Do you know who wins in a pissing contest? Yeppers, that's right....nobody
wins. You just get wet floors, a foul smell and a mess that somebody has to
clean up. Gentleman and ladies, I say that it's well past time to get out
your mops and buckets and cleaning supplies and get to work.

There is absolutely no right and no wrong to this issue of splash pages. As
with all human endeavors, different opinions will be bountiful. On a larger
scale disagreements like this start wars.

Give it up. Let it go. Step back and admit that your ideas, opinions and
preferences are your own and not necessarily those of others.

Me, I'll go on my merry way and hope and pray that this childish contest
does not see another day.
