Whoops! My mistake! ;-o
>In general, TITLEs would probably be descriptive, whereas ALT would not
be:
><IMG HREF="search.gif" ALT="[ Search ]" TITLE="Search our database">
><IMG HREF="logo.gif" ALT="ACME Corporation" TITLE="">
><IMG HREF="tbl.gif" ALT="[ picture of Tim Berners-Lee (65k) ]"

Yeah... but these should be <IMG SRC="file.gif" ... > And according to
the WAI WD, (and I'm paraphrasing here) you should avoid making a graphic
out of text and leave that to CSS. To me, this means that all other valid
graphics would NEED some kind of explanation, no matter how brief:
<IMG SRC="gc.gif" ALT="Picture of the Grand Canyon" TITLE="More
elaboration">
While it is true that TITLE *DOES* elaborate (that's how I have used it)
on this picture, ALT must give an indication of what's there, not only
for backwards compatability, but because it is more widely recognized.
My 4 cents...
