Hey its nice to hear a little from this list.

I think frames should be used sparingly and when appropriate. Of course,
who decides when appropriate? The web designer. Then he can live with
the fact that the use of frames will irritate some.

A few reasons why I find myself using them more:

One on my companies site:

http://www.gallerywebs.com/

I use them here to experiement a little with a rotating banner inviting
visitors to go deeper into the site, as well as for the use of "blank
space" for design purposes.

A nice navigation tool for an art show. Check it out:

in using Flash and Javascript it helps with certain functions, such as
"new windows", example: http://www.esllimited.com/Flash/default.htm

go to any artist but Jay Johansen and you'll see the use of frames for a
new window.

Also you can hide your directory structure with frames.

I always provide a "noframes" option for the old browsers
and it ensures that search engine spiders will not be
put off by the frames and will go deeper into the site.

Thanks for getting things going here. Hopefully it is not just a spurt.
