I have been subbed to the list for a couple of days. I think this issue
would go here. I have always wanted to know something.

Sometimes I go to a site and the first page is nothing more than a
graphic(usually large) and then somewhere to click to continue. The only
reason I can see for this is for the surfer to see a pretty picture before
going onto the real page. I guess I don't understand why people do this. To
me, there is no real reason to put a large graphic like this when there is
no use for it other than to look at it. This is one of my small pet peeves.
I would rather just get to the material. I am willing to be educated if
there is a valid reason why this is done.
