Hello all. I'm here as well and as I mentioned to John, I almost forgot that I
had registered : )
I try to make all the sites I work on accessible and valid and once you get the
tools and the knowledge, things can proceed fairly quickly.
Lauren, listen to the presentation that Mike mentioned and you'll see that all
is not as dire as you have been led to believe.

As to the web being a visual medium, it certainly is for sighted folks.
