You cannot do that. (period)
If they can see it in their browser, then it ALREADY HAS BEEN downloaded.
With a .doc extension, most browsers will open the file in WORD97 with all
of its functionality intact.
Perhaps you will need to look into using that Adobe Acrobat Format. This
should do what you want.

Subject: Word Documents on Web Sites
I have several Word documents that I want to put on my web site. I want
them to be "viewable" but not "downloadable". In other words, my site
visitors would click on a button or link and be taken to a page that in
turn leads to each document. Once the visitor goes to the document
itself, it would be displayed large enough to be legible. (In case
you're wondering, these documents are sample resumes. I don't want
visitors to be able to download the file(s) and modify them for their
own use.)
What is the best way to do this? I thought about just making each
document one big graphic, but as such they would take forever to
download. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.
