Hi and welcome to the guild.
Yes, everyone gets the messages addressed to the board,
but replies go to the individual who sent the message, unless you change the
address so that it will go to the mailing list.
ADVICE #1 (which I never follow anyway) GET AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER!
Do your initial designs on paper, one sheet for each page, lay them out on
the table or on the floor, get a good idea of what goes on each one and
where, and how they will all link together.
ADVICE #2 (which I seldom follow anyway) MAKE ALL OF YOUR GRAPHICS FIRST!
Sit down at the computer, and make each graphic exactly as you want them,
and to load as quickly as possible. Save them in the correct folders.
and then #3 The whole thing will fall into place, (instead of falling apart)
Elias

Subject: Re: Web Design - Getting Started
Hello,
I am a new member of the Guild, and looking forward to participating as
actively as I can.
I am fairly new to web design, but am very eager to get involved and
possibly make a career change from accounting. I am teaching myself
HTML, and have already designed a personal web page (not yet on the
WWW). I have Paint Shop Pro, but have only used it re: scanning of
photos.
What is the best and quickest way to get started as a web site designer?
What are the high priority areas I need to concdentrate in? I know
there is so much to learn. I have gotten some good advice from a
couple of webmasters I have contacted via email, and I plan to keep in
touch with at least one of them.
Any advice will be much appreciated.
Also, does every member get email sent to this mailing list? I was
surprised to check my email this morning and find 31 messages.
Thanks,
Bob Frith
