Here we go again....:).
Most sites will show fine with some errors, and some problems that cause
undesired behavior will not trip in a validator.
That being said, a validator is a very useful an important tool. Your
ultimate goal is less to have pages that validate perfectly than to fully
understand the reason behind each warning or error, and it's implications to
your page, whether you decide to correct it or not.
Personally, I try to make all pages validate. Not because I think it
guarantees browser compliance...I know this isn't true. It does help with
displays, but my main reason is that I support the intelligent, organized
approach the W3C is taking with the evolution of Web markup. This is my
choice.

Hi all,
I created a site using Dreamweaver and recently ran it
through a validator. It gave me a whole bunch of
errors - is this expected because I used the editor to
create the site? Does the editor introduce more
opportunities for errors?
Also, I understand that having a "clean" site is a
good thing, but on the whole, how many sites are out
there that pass the validation test? and how important
is this?
