Hello,
I was in a recruiter's office recently for an interview and I was horrified
when he pulled up my site and it appeared grainy and illegible. Actually I
was thinking how odd that he called me and said he really liked my site!!!
Now I will admit right off that I do select the highest possible amount of
colors for the resolution on both my PC's. But I also make it a point to
utilize bgcolors/backgrounds/images, etc. that are consided 216 web-safe in
most cases.
This experience was bothering me so I went home and viewed my site in 256
colors and it appeared fine to me. So I rebooted the computer and looked at
it in 16 colors and therein lay the problem. The recruiter's PC is set for
only 16 colors so I can see now where compared to most of everything else he
is seeing, my plain little site would look pretty good. (And I thought I was
doing decent web design, *tee hee*)
I was wondering what everyone else does about dealing with the issue of
surfers who are only using 16 colors. Obviously I never even thought it was
an issue. I have changed my entire site to a white background because now I
am nervous about using anything else. I do not like the way it looks at all.
Any suggestions or thoughts will be appreciated and taken into consideration
as I dream up a whole new design for my site.
Thank you in advance,
Tammy
